Awesome! Good find. Prince is very underrated as a guitarist, I think, but I don't believe that's purposeful. It's probably more that he's such an all-around performer that any one aspect of his considerable skill gets overlooked. I mean, with EVH, well, he plays guitar. Prince, well, he plays guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, sings, dances, writes, produces, engineers, conducts his own marketing, promotion, runs his own label... heh, shit, he does it all. He's not the greatest shredder ever alive, but he's more than competent, and his overall sense of musicianship is consumate.

Great link, Dormant, and thanks. It's awesome to have another Prince fan around here!

PS God, my typing sucks. I really need to master the art of editing or practice on my damn typing.

It's the one influence I mention to people that they say "what the fuck?" and then give me really weird looks. One of the first albums I owned was 'Around The World in a Day' and I bought the entire backcatalogue back to "For You" and up to "Symbol".

I haven't bought an album by him since (excluding The Crystal Ball because it was full of old stuff I had to have) because he just went fucking nuts and started to write pap as he battled Warner Bros.

I saw him live in 1988, 1991 and 1994. It was seeing him play guitar that made me want to play guitar so it was good to see that someone else appreciates his stuff hence the link.

... Oh, for anyone else who doesn't like it

Dude's got massive talent and has always been a GREAT showman. I think showmanship is just as important as musicianship.

I know. And it's not the average people, it's always the metal heads. Thank god Naren was an exception. I remember us talking about influences n' shit, and I told him I liked Prince, and he was pretty much like, Hey, cool! I like him, too.

I never cared, though. There's lots of stuff I like that metal heads don't. Look at Drew and I with the Stones. I remember one night Naren and I sitting in our studio, getting drunk (well, I think we were already there ) listening to some crazy Japanese punk and rock music he had, and it was totally new to me, but very cool. Yeah. I have very very diverse music tastes from classical, jazz, blues to metal, punk, goth, industrial, classic rock to pop, video game music, ethnic music, etc. I like pretty much anything. And I'm glad Bob (TDW) here is also a very open-minded guy who likes lots of different music. He was open to all my strange ideas. Like the time I brought in my mandolin and said "Hey, let's use this in some songs" and Bob said "Sounds sweet. Let's use it."

And I don't remember everything that was on that rock CD, but I do remember it had some pretty awesome songs on it from several different styles. And that was fun that night when we were drinking and listening to that CD.
