![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You guys don't get that this isn't just a band that radically changes. This for many is like Dream Theater where Petrucci and Labrie leave and then Portnoy hires new guns to release a punk rock record under the same band name. (Though it might not be as bad if Labrie left )Release whatever you want, even if its completely different. Just don't throw a hissy fit when your longtime fans nail you for it and then make fun of them in a very sarcastic way. IMO very uncool. The new album isn't even all that brutal compared to real Cryptopsy too. It's boring, lifeless, and sounds like everything else that's out there. They shoulda just called it quits when Levasseur left. All Flo did is drive the band into the ground. /rant ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't think so. In my opinion if you are the only member left you should bail on the whole thing unless you've always only used hired guns. In this case the drummer didn't write anything so i'm just butt-hurt that the new music sucks so bad and that they are making fun of everyone that got them to where they are now. It's like a slap in the face to the canadian metal scene. ![]() ![]() | The way I look at it is that Cryptopsy was so underground that I think the fans (including myself) took a big amount of pride knowing who they were, because especially here in the States, NO ONE knows who Cryptopsy is. Of course, now the number is growing, thanks to Summer Slaughter, but all the newfound scene fans will never know the pride and ownership that once existed with the original Cryptopsy fans, when you knew that you had a jem in your CD case that no one ever knew about. This is why it sucks so bad to see what was once a heavily influential band in grindcore/death metal, ESPECIALLY in Canada, turn towards a more mass-produced sound. A band that was once a leader in the metal movement has now become a follower. It's hard to watch. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For me this has nothing about how "underground" Cryptopsy are and a whole lot to do with them changing their sound in an obvious attempt to make money and then having the audacity to turn on their fans for not going along with their bullshit. It's not as if they're going to sell many more albums, either, because regardless of how trendy their sound might be, the songs still blow. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't think Flo dramatically changed the sound just for Money. He's been pretty active on the Cryptopsy forums recently and you can tell he's sincerely convinced that he's doing the band a favor with The Unspoken King ![]() The sellout card gets thrown around WAYYYY too much IMO |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Don't forget Jon Levasseur who left during the writing process of Once was Not I think Although IMO that album would have been great if it didn't have the most terrible mix and production of any metal album in the past 15 years. |
