Thumbs up Top Six albums I couldn't live without

I do listen to older metal stuff but these albums I can listen to anytime and are my top choice in a zombie apocalypse. They're in alphabetical oder by artist.

The Black Dahlia Murder- Unhallowed
B/c this is the album that brought me back to deathmetal

The Faceless- Akeldama
B/c this is the best progressive melodic death

Flesh and Blood Robot- The Sounds Revolvers Make
B/c not only is fucken weird and highly addictive it's something completely original and blood thirsty

Ion Dissonance- Solace
B/c the technicality becomes a finely tuned beast all it's own

The Red Chord- Fused together through revolving doors
B/c this must is pure energy and makes you want to punch the guy sitting next to you

Still Remains- If Love Was Born Today
B/c I grew up listening to the work of Jordan Whelan and this was his best though anything after it i do not like.

And your's are?

deguello666 has a spectacular aura about
1: The Muppet Show album (yes, I'm serious)
2: Death:Symbolic
3: Jethro Tull:Crest of a Knave
4: Ozzy:No More Tears
5: Pantera: Cowboys or Vulgar Display
6: Steve Vai: Passion and Warfare or Satch: Flying in a Blue Dream

I know technically that's 8, but i'm not fussy which Pantera album, and Vai and Satch are too equal to separate I'm afraid

(pity we couldn't get 10....would make life a BIT easier lol)

Here's my list:

1. Arcturus - La Masquerade Infernale
Avantgarde "metal" with an amazing atmosphere. A huge influence for me!

2. Camel - Snowgoose
Progressive rock at it's best. Amazing songs, relaxing atmosphere and Andy Latimer's guitar tone/melodies.

3. Vivaldi's Four Seasons
No comment needed!

4: Emperor - Anthems to the Welking at Dusk
Amazing songwriting, progressive song structures and an awesome, epic atmosphere.

5. Sepultura - Chaos AD
This album was one of the reasons I started playing the guitar, and for me, it still sounds amazing and fresh, after over ten years of owning it! Catchy, brutal riffs, Max Cavalera's pissed off voice and just the attitude that comes through in the music.

Whoops, I forgot the 6th!
6. Amorphis - Tales From the Thousand Lakes
Those melodies, those brilliant melodies!

1. Obzen - Meshuggah. Doesn't necessarily contain their best songs but it's a well-rounded mix of good material imo.

2. Grow Up and Blow Away - Metric. Awesome album is awesome.

3. Trees are Dead and Dried Out, Wait for Something Wild - Sikth. I liked this disc better than Death of a Dead Day and the songs on it are just awesome. From Tupelo to How May I Help You, delivering album delivers.

4. Demanufacture - Fear Factory. Mah, I feel it's got some filler material but then again I feel most FF stuff does. >_> Great songs on this disc and the tone is rockin.

5. Get out of my Yard - Paul Gilbert. So many Gilbert discs are good and I can only settle for this one because of that ripping opening track. ._.

6. Comfort Eagle - Cake. I love it madly.

Hmmm... okay:

Sevendust - Seasons
IMO, their best all-around album, though Alpha is a close second

Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith
My first Priest album, so there's sentimental attachment... plus, some kick-ass songs!

Cynic - Cynic
...'nuff said.

Periphery - Untitled
Because it's not even recorded and it's already amazing!

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Left of Cool
I don't know how to begin to describe it... ultra-technical rootsy modern world-music jazz, with an underlying sense of fun! Sojurn of Arjuna is worth the price of admission, by itself.

Mine
My stuff isn't great - yet! - but I'd like to keep what I've done so I can keep working!

Sheesh... this doesn't even take into consideration Miles, 'Trane, Dave Samuels, Steve Reich, Nick Cave, KsE, Meshuggah, Rush...

I'd try to have as many bases covered as possible.

Eagles - Hotel California
Dream Theater - Awake
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
Lane/Hellborg/Vanyakrams brothers of doom - Icon
Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn
Steve Vai - Fire Garden

There's no rules about how much written music you can keep is there? Good.

Dark Tranquillity - Character
The best Dark Tranquillity album, because of its relentless, controlled aggression, plus their strongest songwriting.

Disillusion - Back To Times Of Splendor
The perfect blend of prog metal, thrash, death, and even a sprinkle of black and power.

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
Blackest Eyes and The Sound Of Muzak are worth the price of the album alone.

Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element Pt. 1
No one does emotional metal better than these guys, and this album is the apex of that concept.

Angra - Temple of Shadows
The ultimate power metal album. Awesome solos, sweeping epic songs, good songwriting, what's not to like?

Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory
Need I go on?

DslDwg has a spectacular aura about
Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman
Randy was such a huge influence on me picking up the guitar. Maybe doesn't have the iconic tunes that Blizzard of Oz has but Diary of a Madman in my opinion might have been one of greatest constructed metal songs of the era.

Rush - Hemispheres
Probably the lesser known of their thematic albums 2112 probably being the most famous. Hemispheres just talks to me - great album.

Metallica - Ride the lightning
Hard to choose between it and Master. Just love speed and intensity and go for the more simplistic songs. Banged my head endlessly to Fight Fire with Fire - classic

Megadeth - Rust in Peace
This might be the perfect metal album in my opinion. Still a benchmark - great songs great playing.

Steely Dan - A Decade of Steely Dan
My one oddball - a friend turned me on to this album - I probably had heard all the songs previously but the collection is as close to perfection as you can get. Completely not my normal style of music but I just never get tired of hearing this album. great great songs.

Dream Theater - Train of Thought
Hard to pick my favorite love these guys. Just love the songs and album leans a little more metal than some of the others.
