I was watching VH1's Classic Albums this weekend....

and it just happened to be Number of the beast.

I've seen a few of these shows and I've always liked how they go into a studio and bring up certain tracks with the producer while talking about the song. This episode had all of this and some really funny stories. My only problem was I could hardly understand a word Steve Harris was saying. That dude has a thick accent.

And Hallowed be thy name has got to be one of my favorite Maiden songs ever...

+1 My favourite album by Maiden by so far....

Ok you got some classics on say seventh son, but NOTB still knocks socks off anything else they've done (apart from the god awful Invaders, which stil isn't a bad tune, just by far the worst on that album)

but all in all MAIDEN FTW

The Early Days DVD is full of the same kind of stories, so if you liked the classsic albums show then I'd recommend picking that up.
As for NOTB, It is not even in my top 3 fav Maiden albums. It has some real classics but they are right beside some real dogs too.

Totally essential. I love the pictures from the early days of Maiden in the mid-1970s, when it was just Steve Harris and a bunch of random dudes. Until I got that DVD, I didn't realize he'd started Maiden in 1972. Talk about perseverance...

I'll need to pick this DVD up. It's pretty incredible how big they were in the 80's without any radio play or MTV.

The MSG network (Madison Square Garden sports station for anyone who doesn't get it) had the the Live After Death concert on last night which was so cool to see again after all of these years. What a great show.

The "Early Days" DVD is good. I actually enjoyed the bonus footage and interviews on the bonus discs of stuff like "Death on the Road" too.

And yeah, NOTB is great and all...but probably not in my Top 3 Maiden albums either, despite having arguably my favorite Maiden song on it ("Hallowed Be Thy Name").
