I totally agree with the comment about them being surrounded by people telling them how awesome they are contributing to their stagnation as musicians. If Rick Rubin can't take that wah pedal away and get James to put some effort into his lyrics then they're fucked. Not that they weren't already.

I agree, Testament got BETTER as time went on. Chuck Billy is one of my favorite singers and he just gets more and more intense.
The guitar tone has been steadily improving too and the riffs are just massive.
I was just listening to Fall of Sipledome. Damn, what a heavy piece of music.
The lyrics..... It's just so hard to believe that Metallica went from lyrics like the ones for 'The Thing That Should Not Be' to St. Anger. They went from art to shit.
