![]() | That's SO sweet. Love Dave, Love Metallica. To the end. Why am I ever faithful...? Well, reading people's negative reactions on this thread reminds me of something Ben Moody said when he left Evanescence (weird connection, but true). Everyone was giving him shit and feeling betrayed for this decision. He replied in an official statement, saying that the material that Evanescence have produced that the fans fell in love with still exists. He played a major part in creating the media that these people cared so much for, so why does anything that happens from that point on in his career change that?! I completely agree. It draws parellels to this conversation. Metallica have made excellent music and a lot of you are saying you loved or have been strongly connected to. You cannot define what music a band is or isn't constantly - a band is made up of people who are learning, changing people who want to create different things, take chances, develop. What they make is what they make. I personally hated St. Anger, but I love Metallica. |

You need to watch Some Kind Of Monster. Metallica isn't actually a band anymore. They are a bunch of guys that get together because they MUST make something. I think they are all so dissconnected that they have no idea what they want to do or if its good, they seem like theyre laughing at their songs through half that dvd. None of them ever really seem to be making something "they want". Lars cares more about selling 1 Billion dollar paintings than playing drums, James cares more about riding around go carts and Kirk just wants to surf dude! There is something missing from metallica. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think most metal bands are at their best when they are still trying to get to the top. All too often once they get there, the flame goes out. It's kind of tough to write angry kick ass music when you've got every material thing in the world at your finger tips. I think you need the hunger, that's what fuels the desire and that's what fuels the Originality. With this band I'm afraid that's long gone, and they're just going thru the motions. Can I be the devil on your shoulder? ![]() |

![]() | When you spend so many years with everyone telling you how great you are, it must be hard to try and keep developing as a musician. They don't seem to push themselves technically anymore. They don't seem to even enjoy being together. How can a band like that expect to make great music? That aside, they are one of the bands that I grew into metal from. At their peak they were awesome. I'll listen to the new album. I'll try and give it a chance |
