I rented that instructional video from a library when I was just beginning to get interested in guitar, I was 9 or 10. It wasn't until I was 16 that I really got into guitar and I went back and got the video and actually tried to absorb some of it. He's my favorite of the instrumental neoclassical guys and I think it's really cool that I stumbled across his video like that, he's not exactly the most well known of the shredders.

Tony MacAlpine is brilliant! Seeing him playing the seven string in Steve Vai's band on the Astoria dvd was actually I think the first time I really started taking notice of 7 strings... I especially love his work with Planet X as well, its a shame he's no longer playing with them...

dvd? I thought it was only ever released on VHS, which I also have, as well as his even earlier Shrapnel VHS and the Vinnie Moore Hotlicks VHS...
