Hey I've always wanted to play some Symphony X stuff and improve my technique but is there anywhere i can find tabs in 7 String notation? I know you can switch it on guitar pro but it changes it to weird open stuff thats awkward to play. for example, it'll map out a power chord such as Eb and I'll get something really weird which is correct but just weird to play. Sorry, I can't downtune without taking off the back and adjusting the springs (I have a floyd rose) and i'm not keen on doing that since i would be playing standard tuning stuff 98.7 percent of the time

for many songs they use a lot of open strings and really wide stretches too. for example, evolution is in D standard, but good luck stretching from 2-7 and then using 4nps per string to get the notes to come out. I'm not saying its impossible, just that you would need HUUGE handsi to pull it off.

You're better off drop tuning. Honestly, it's easier.

A couple of Symphony X's older songs are easy enought to switch to seven string notation, but I would highly doubt that there are tabs readily available for them. It's hard enough to find SX tabs, period.

Out of the Ashes is a kickass song, and it is possible to play in standard on a seven string.

Any way you coiuld try playing the songs up a whole step?
