since when has there been a shortage of 80's style metal bands? .

if you ask me there's way TOO many right now, and it's boring and uninspired as all hell.

i want something new dammit! i'm sick of hearing rehashed shit that was perfected in '82.

Like who?

I've recently heard 'Airbourne' who to me sound like an EXACT AC/DC clone.

Black Tide doesn't suck IMO. Who else are you talking about? I may be missing some good shit.

Weren't they on the cover of the last GC catalogue for winning a pretty useless rig?

I have to agree with this. I think it's cool that musicians are learning to play their instruments again after going through the 90's music scene but it would be nice to take the 80's stuff to a new place.
That said, these guys are pretty talented for their ages.

TemjinStrife is a jewel in the rough
Shockwave is pretty awesome, I found Black Tide through the Rock Band game.

Another good one is Crooked X, which is a bunch of 14 and 15 year olds doing pretty decent Metallica-style melodic thrashy stuff.

Shockwave is a pretty good song, the rest I've heard is extremely 80s, and not in a good way. I'd say give 'em a few years and a few albums to mature and find their way. Oh yes, and find 'em a lyricist...

"Listen closely to me now, my darlin' girl...
There's one who's out to have you, and just his breath will burn your curls..."
