Holy damn that's awesome. Congrats on the money .

You shouldn't have much of a problem finding another band, your guitar playing is pretty good.

I had a similar situation and got cash too. Hopefully you guys can be friends again someday. Just take a little time to cool out. Nothing is worth staying pissed your whole life over.

Problem is, I am going to be picky this time around. No settling just to do music. I want pretty much to only play on my 7's, so drop A. It can be hard too, because it seems like all the bands that start in my area have 90's musical styles, with the exception of a few. I would like to do something more modern.

Thanks for the comments on my playing. I appreciate it. According to the other guitarist in my band though, I suck. That says a lot coming from a dude who doesn't know the notes on his instrument, and thinks he is good by soloing fast, even though he is sloppy as hell and constantly hits notes out of key.

I COULD HAVE had something similar happen. Basically, my last band, I was the only one with a job. The drummer was using my cymbals, throne, Axis Longboards, and believe it or not sometimes my drum shoes... Anyways, when the drummer first moved to town, he had no cash obviously, and called me up one day and said "Hey man, I hate to ask, but could you do me a BIG favour? I want to finance some cymbals, but they won't approve me because I have no job, could you finance them?". My response was "Dude, don't take this the wrong way, but no fucking way". The dude is cool enough, but given that I quit the band like 2 months later or something like that, and he wanted a grand worth of cymbals, I feel I made the right choice

What's even more fucked up, is when I quit the band, I took all my shit (after letting them borrow it for 2 weeks) and they wanted me to sell them my Eliminators. I said fair enough, make me a payment within a couple weeks. A couple weeks go by, and nothing. I ask them for money again, and they say within a week. A week later, I had an offer to sell them to a friend of mine's drum student. I told the guy if he didn't have the money to buy the pedals, that I was going to take them to my friends' student. He launched into a tirade saying he "didn't have a fancy job like mine, and they aren't endorsed like my friend". That's pretty much a direct quote of what he said. He basically said I was being unreasonable, and going back on my word Anyways, I called him to collect my shit the day before I left, and there was no answer. He wasn't logged into MSN, and I tried calling repeatedly. I get in my car, drive over, and look in his door, and there he is with his buddies sitting at the bottom of the stairs. I knock, and thankfully he let me in, because otherwise I couldn't have legally gone in and gotten my shit. I go in, and he's pretty much sulking the whole time I'm taking them.

Anyways, that's my rant. I felt I had been MORE than reasonable about the whole me leaving the band thing.

What bugs me about this whole situation is that you were essentially "kicked out" of the band for having a life. That's just not right.

In the current incarnation of Organical, we've finally all got our heads on straight about the band, our expectations, and our respect for each other and our own lives and commitments outside of music, so i can't see that kind of shit happening in our situation.

We all have full time jobs, families, other interests and other commitments that at times have to take priority. The band is an outlet, and first and foremost, it has to be FUN. We're not in it for the money (that's for sure!) nor are we trying to make it our full-time career. We're not interested in going on tour or having a record deal. Two guys in the band have already been there and done that. We just want to make good music and have fun doing it.

That's not to say we haven't had our difficulties. A couple of years ago, we went on hiatus for about 18 months due to a lot of differences within the band. Although we all gelled musically and became good friends, the dynamic in the rehearsal space just wasn't productive. Steve disbanded the group in a not-so-subtle way.

So after our second disc was finished Steve started reassembling the band. I came back on board (with some initial reservations, no doubt) and we brought our original keyboard guy back. We found a fantastic new bass player and spent a couple of years trying to find a drummer who would work. We're now working as a four-piece (our bass player is triggering loops and samples via an FCB1010 now) and the chemistry is great.

Money is always a sticking point. We had a good discussion a few weeks ago about it. The shared feeling in the room is that the band is actually much more of a "band" now than it ever was, and that if any individual member left now, that would probably be the end of Organical. Anything that we've bought communally for the band (like our new laptop) would probably have to be "bought out" from the other members by whomever wanted to keep it.

But the approach Division has taken is probably the best failsafe for a serious band to take. The band is its own entity that exists beyond the individual members.

This space intentionally left blank.

I want to be in a band like this...

Basically, after I returned the site, the drummer posted a bulletin talking huge amounts of shit about me. I have a blog on my page you should read if interested....
