i thought this thread was gonna be about the guy who just flat-out posted one of bulb/periphery's tracks on his myspace and claimed it as his own....remember that one?

that was a bit more recent, shortly after casey joined the band, as i recall.

Yeah. He posted the version of "Icarus Lives" with Jake on vocals after Casey's version had been released, called it "Icarus Lives," but put his own name as the person who made it (so, that's you on guitar, bass, vocals, drums, and such? Doesn't sound anything even remotely like the song below it).

That was funny. I mean, seriously. Why would you do something like that? You might as well just rip a song off your favorite band's CD, rename the "artist" to your own name, and claim it's your song.

woah, there hasn't been this much fued since Vanilla Ice ripped off David Bowie and Queen. i dont understand the 7 guy, the whole things sounds good and then it was ended with a part he ripped off-even if it is just a higher tempo, its still the same riff.

just like the riff bulb influenced...
at least they got that one right...but hey its a fucking riff---not a song...and its still different...
i don't see anything wrong with taking an idea and doing something new with it...as long as it isn't a copy...
a few coincidences drew you to conclusions that are understandable but unfortunately wrong...

what i did and what bulb thought i did are 2 separate things...that's what this all stems from...my fault--i probably didn't give him that much detail--didn't think 1 riff in one song was really that big of a deal...guess i was wrong...my bad.
so after you think you've got a ripoff on your hands you start picking out other things you think are stolen...and pretentiousness begins...
i doubt this will resolve anything but i've said what i have to say about it.

Its exactly the same. Same notes, same intervals, same effects, same rhythms. Its obvious you just stole it.

if i were bulb it'd feel good knowing he's inspiring people with his unique music. When we all started music it had similarities to our favourite guitarists work. I would say maybe its just coincidence his stuff sounds like bulbs, i am sure it isn't...but still. Is all the anger really worth it, theres more blatant rip off's out there, who are, well ripping of shit music. Atleast this has taste lol.

I don't expect everyone to agree, but my views are, if its different, and he's inspired by it, thats not bad. Bulbs awsome, his band will make it big time, and if this guy makes it big, i am sure he'd be kind enough (we'd hope) to thank the correct people for the inspiration and give them the credit they deserve

Unfortunately, in this day and age, anything cool will get ripped off.
It`s been happening with music, and the guitar buisiness for decades
You kind of have to expect it these days.

Having a similar style would be totally legit, i mean people copy Meshuggah all the time don't they? However, having a note-for-note riff, that's just plagarism.

bradseven has a little shameless behaviour in the past
its not a note for note riff people---aren't you musicians?---
the riff was inspired by textures--
wtf?
people thought i literally resampled that right out of his song---wow!---sounds really similar--but not THAT similar...i'd never even heard that shit before!...
im guessing 'elements' is a textures fan too...

Tell me what's different apart from the lead part you've added. I challenge you.

bradseven has a little shameless behaviour in the past
well ,the tempo---which you've already pointed out...the pattern...the fills...the samples tones and sounds used...the six string guitar vs. whatever kind of 8-string it sounds like he uses...no gain on the bass...
the use of DFH1---not DFH Superior like 'elements'...
has anyone listened to this textures song or are people just ignoring that?
