Morbid Angel - God Of Emptiness, appreciation thread

stonker of a song. funnily enough it was what my friend in the upper sixth form (the edlest year) at boarding school used to try and convince me that death metal was useless tripe. i was in the fourth form (the youngest year) at the time. “oh i heard a morbid angel once, this guy starts singing ‘bow to me faithfully-y-y-y-y’, it’s ridiculous”… and there was i thinking “actually, that sounds cool”.

is there tab anywhere? and does anyone have the copy of korn covering it?

The song is awesome! Apart from the string skippy bit in the middle and trying to figure out the weird low string bends (they make more sense these days that 13/14 years ago when i got hold of the tab) it is pretty simple all round. ANd yes, I still have the tab for it, including the random scribblings they used to have on the bottom pages of guitar magazines...

God of Emptiness is one of the greatest death metal songs ever. It sounds very haunting, has cool harmonies and intervals going on, and the wicked groove. Not your everyday DM song that's for sure.

I just can't get enough of this song. Where the slime lives is cool too, but not as epic as GOE.

I am thrilled since I will get to see Morbid Angel this summer at Tuska Festival here in Finland. As well as Carcass, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, SLayer. Job for a Cowboy, Nile etc.

It's going to be wicked!

Would be interesting to hear the Korn cover. Mint song, bit of a shame the rest of Morbid Angel's output isn't so memorable, but this is a great track.
