Jesus that guy is sick, I would love to jam with a guy like that at some point just for fun. I'll stick with the jazzy guy I play with now though

But yeah, there are a few times I have gone and jammed with guys who turned out to be way, way better than I was.. but it still is not a big deal. Especially with regards to a drummer, I would think that the kind of chops you have (BDM isn't exactly easy) are preferable over crazy leads, sweeps and taps.

My two cents of opinion are that the drummer must always be the best member on a band. If you have a great drummer, you can have a great band.
So, don't be afraid to jam. There's always something to learn when you play with other people. Even if they play much less than you.
Besides, his playing style is requiring for some groove on the guitars...
