Playing until you fingers bleed literally.

So I got my new Loomis not to long ago and practically haven't put it down since. I have massive calluses from playing acoustic so that's not really the issue. In fact the blood is under the callus like a blister and it's really sore...

Anybody ever have this happen? Or know how to fix it?

I did it once. I played until I somehow managed to start bleeding from under the tip of my fingernail, and I couldn't play for a few days thereafter. Hasn't happened again in about a year though.

I avoid moisturizing my hands as much as possible, to keep my calluses thick, dry, and hard. Works for me.

the only thing you can do is keep playing. it just sort of happens when you run thin pieces of metal along your fingers over and over, over time.

I used to get that all the time, usually if I cut my fingernails too close it would happen. It's painful!

I've kind of gotten used to it, but it hasn't happened in a while.

hmmm... well if I wrap it in electrical tape it doesn't hurt too bad. Should be able to get through Friday/Saturday like that. I think the best thing to do is rest it after that.

The blood seems to be drying underneath so with any luck it will heal and just add to my callus. I'll have a purplish red finger tip for awhile though.

I'm pretty sure it was all the sliding and bending I was doing, I have a light touch when it comes to fretting.

I haven't been able to make my fingers even hurt for years. I think bleeding is totally out of the question.. plus the maple board on my Charvel would really show blood stains, so I'd be pissed if I ever do manage to bleed on it.

Blood under a callous just sounds weird and painful to me! I've never had that happen, just under the fingernail.
