Wow, im using tens as well, with my acustic and its 14's or w/e my fingers get callouses fast, i never get em on electric, i can play like 2 hours of electric and nothing happens but if i try it on my acoustic they get tenderly delicious

happened to me once.. took a photo of it...was running up against one of the strings and one of my callouses was a little bit torn and the string just kept tearing it.. resulting in what you see above.

only happened to me that one time tho..

Bryan Adams is probably the best person to ask about this.

I've played with callouses coming off my fingers lol. I just tear the dead skin off and keep at it. i can feel the tenderness, but a half hour of playing and i'm fine again.

3 cheers for free gear!

When I first started playing, my fingers ALWAYS used to crack open, and it'd be painful as hell, but I remember putting electrical tape around my fingers just so I could play more, haha. My fingers would get so bad that I'd tape my fingers completely..felt REALLY weird to play, but it worked

That sucks!
You don't play after 1 hour of taking a shower, etc right?

I've never hurt my fingertips in that way, just once had little blisters from playing on my acoustic too much, seems like the sweat plus higher caliber = blisters.

One interesting thing that happens to sitar players: when they first start playing, they have to build callouses like guitar players, but then the callouses cut and their finger bleed, they stop playing for a week and they're done, they callouses have a cut and they can play without anymore problems.
And that callouse, with the cut and the oil that they use becomes a black thing that is really horrible.

Never had my fret hand bleeding, but I frequently end up shredding the top part of the fingers on my strumming hand proximal to the nail bed. It doesn't hurt at all, though. It's more just a neat effect, especially when I am playing my white RG.

*sigh*

The price I pay for not using a pick.
