![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Terrorhorse! (my band, first song posted, with studio pics) So, a few weeks ago, I joined the band Terrorhorse, playing bass. This past Saturday, we went to Ice House Studios and recorded our first track, "The Gate". I had to show up later than everyone else, as I had to work. When I was getting nearby, Darryl (singer) came to meet me and guide me the rest of the way to the studio. When he was leaving to meet me, they were just starting to track drums. By the time we got there, Cam (drummer) was done. He nailed it on the 3rd take, with no click and without any accompaniment (Darryl took the pics)Here's the studio, it used to be a church ![]() ![]() Here's me, just arriving, with Richard (guitars, left) and Cam (rejoicing on the right) (note my shirt ):![]() Cam posing at the drums since we didn't get any shots of him actually tracking: ![]() Up in the control room: ![]() Thomas Ireland, producer/engineer: ![]() Richard tracking guitars: ![]() He tracked with his Loomis, and his Epiphone Les Paul 7, through his early 80s Marshall JCM800, boosted with a TS808 (for those curious, the Loomis is the left channel, the Les Paul's the right channel) He also used his Talkbox for one part, which sounds killer. He knocked out his parts ridiculously quickly too. He probably took the longest, but that was because he had twice as many parts as the rest of us, and wanted everything to be flawless. That JCM800 sounds killer, and he got it for $500 about 10 years ago. The reason he got such a great deal on it is because the previous owner's cat peed in it He cleaned it up and it works flawlessly and sounds so freaking good.I was next up, playing my Fender Jazz Bass V through my Ampeg SVT-3 Pro through my Ampeg SVT410HLF. I also knocked out my parts pretty quickly. ![]() Darryl posed for this pic, as we didn't get pics of him actually tracking, which is a shame, because this isn't how he tracked the song. He did one take like this, which he didn't like but we thought was pretty good. He then did one take with a handheld SM58 with the PA blaring at him, one foot up on my rack case, and nailed it. Fucking nailed it. He did two quick overdubs (the doomy part in the middle) and called it a day. ![]() So, without further ado, the track: MySpace.com - TERRORHORSE [SONG UP!] - London, CA - Metal / Progressive / Hardcore - www.myspace.com/terrorhorse

The left side is exactly what he plays, and he's working on picking up a G-system, which should be able to handle the harmonies (they're all minor 3rd harmonies on this one) if we decide to use them live. The studio's outside of Clinton/Goderich. It's a shared studio between him and 2 other guys, and their combined gear means they've got a decent collection of amps/drums/gear. I showed up and they had an SVT-3 Pro sitting there I still used mine, though They had a big wall of guitar amps (Fender, Vox, Hiwatt, Yorkville/Traynor, etc.) and bass amps (Ampeg, Eden, SWR, Gallien-Kruger, etc.), 3-ish drumkits (2 set up at the time) and a bunch of other junk laying around ![]() As for checking us out, I'll see what I can do. When do you leave? We may invite people to the practice space to check us out as a prep for actual gigging, but I'm not sure if/when that'll be happening. So far we're working on getting a show in Goderich in late May, something in Windsor in June, and probably a show or two in London earlier in May, as long as we get this last song written and get our set nice and solid. We're already talking about doing shows all over Ontario over the summer (anywhere we can drive to/from in a day ) and a week-long mini-tour in October-ish maybe. More details on all of that really soon.Quote:
