WTF? Still Life 2-disc version

So I'm wandering through HMV looking for late 80's King Diamond, when I find a copy of Still Life, one of Opeth's IMO greatest albums. But it's slightly thicker, and the cover's slightly different. It's a fucking 2 disc version with a 5.1 mix of the entire album on a DVD.

Did anyone else know this was going to be released? It says 2008 Peaceville Records, so it's definitely recent. I'm completely in the dark on how I might have missed it.

yes it has been posted more than once before

mikael came with the news about when he started opening his mouth about their new album Watershed etc.

in all its gayness, it even has its own webpage:
Opeth's Still Life Special Edition

i still wonder why they decided to remaster the first opeth album in their catalogue that was perfectly well mastered the first time (might be a company thing boo knows)

it would have made alot more sense if they'd put the effort into remastering their first 3 cd's instead. but let's just hope they are next (starting with MAYH)

Yeah it's been widely known for a while dude, it's not just a 5.1 mix...it's been completely remixed in stereo aswell! Pick it up if you can

Imperium is a jewel in the rough
They remastered Still Life because on some of the tracks there are little problems like guitar parts droping out , etc.. Mikael also said there is a "cough" somewhere on the vocal tracks . Just little things like that i've been told.

Mikael also said this on their forum:

"It's actually a completely new mix in 5.1.
It was very wierd listening to it. There were leads in there I've never heard before that are on the mastertapes but I can't hear them on the album, until now. Obviously the "cough" was now loud and clear. It's a wierd album for sure....wierd things happened during that recording.

The system I listened it through in was not the best but it's very clear at least, but it sounds a lot different, which I guess is the point.
Very interesting. The screams are right next to you and some of them are dry, which made me shiver a little...as in it scared me.

Anyways, we'll let you know what's up with that, but the mix is done.
Travis is working on some nice artwork, leftover ideas and such."

I A-B'd the two last night, the levels are balanced and higher, sounds bigger and clearer aswell. The stereo version was re-mastered rather than a full re-mix, so it's subtle changes. Sounds closer to BWP now, though.

It's good, I much prefer it
