Thoughts on the new Sevendust

I’m just about through my first listen and I like it. It’s definitely not their heaviest album but that’s not a bad thing in my opinion. This CD reminds me of Seasons at times. I see that the Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy have writing credits on a few of the songs along with Daughtry which kind of surprises me. I’m not sure how or why this came about but I’m wondering if this is why Clint is now back in the band. I think the writing has been very one dimensional since he left and I’m hoping this will help give the next album a fresher sound as my only complaint is that a lot of these songs are starting to sound the same. I love Morgan as a drummer but his screaming backing vocals are getting a little over used at this point. Anyway, I like it. It’s Sevendust!

I haven't heard it yet. I still like Home and Animosity the best, always have. I wasn't too crazy about anything after Clint Lowery left.

I agree completely. Nothing from 7D has lived up to those 2 albums IMO.

I gave all both next and alpha one listen and haven't picked them up since. I love 7dust but was very disappointed with them since clint left. That being said the new disc is much improved. These songs do somewhat sounds alike but at least they are catchier than the previous records. I dig the Daughtry appearance too. It gets a thumbs up from me and has already gotten more listens that the previous 2 combined.

Only got halfway through it so far but the first few songs remind me a lot of their older stuff with the electronic influence returning.

I'm liking it thus far but I'll wait to make a more informed comment until after I get through the whole thing.

The only real bummer is that there apparently won't be another Dark New Day CD, which is a damn shame because that album is all sorts of fucking fantastic.

That does suck but Clint is back where he belongs.

Wait did they officially say they weren't releasing the 2nd album? Man if that's the case I'm really sad... I too am a huge fan of the first DND disc.
