I read some interview on Blabbermouth the other day where Mustaine said he was actually gonna pay for lessons from Chris, so he must be genuinely impressed, and so he should be. That being said, it's gonna make the inevitable badmouthing of Broderick all the more difficult to take seriously, heh.

Wow what pristinely clean technique
and sneaking in a couple extra sweeps without disrupting the flow of the phrasing at all, what player.

I think you'll find it was smack, booze, cocaine and pretty much everything he could get his hands on, but mainly smack. Watching the VH1 special, you just sit there wondering how he's still alive.

BLABBERMOUTH.NET - DAVE MUSTAINE On CHRIS BRODERICK: 'I Feel Like OZZY Felt When He Discovered RANDY RHOADS'

Not sure, but maybe, all it takes is for someone to get excited, and seeing as he has broderick to play off, it should raise his game as per the article:

Quote:
Metal Edge: What can you tell me about the new guitarist, Chris Broderick?

Mustaine: Chris is a phenomenal player. He's really aggressive, he's got strong hands, the solos sound remarkably like Marty Friedman and remarkably like Chris Poland, and those are areas that every one of the predecessors had difficulty with. I told Chris last night, he was down here at our studio, and I told him, "I feel kinda like Ozzy felt when he discovered Randy [Rhoads]." I feel that kind of excitement right now, like the next record is gonna have that kind of dynamic, explosive music on it, because I've always had guitar players who were my equals; in their own right, as a lead guitar player, they should be the equal to any other member in their band, but I feel that Chris has so many other things he's gonna be able to bring to me to dig from, because being a classical and jazz guitar player, those are things that MEGADETH really has influences from but doesn't have any formal training in. So I keep thinking, "Oh my God, is it possible that we're gonna go back to the formidable years with jazz and classical influences, and maybe sound like we did when we did 'Peace Sells' and those more heavily jazz- and classical-influenced thrash technical records that everyone loved and would kill to have another one of?"

Yep, well, how the hell can you badmouth someone who is obviously that good? Plus, article above, well, says it all really

I sure hope so. No doubt Chris will have an influence on the album and it's great that having Chris onboard has Dave excited but those quotes seem like normal sales BS to me. Of course he is going to hype his next album and Metallica will be releasing AJFA2 soon.

It would be awesome if he can recapture that magic of old, I just can't imagine how it would be possible. I'm not saying that it can't be a great album but I doubt it will be another Rust in Peace.

B) Dave playing anything other than a KV1 just looks weird.
[Nick Cormier]Marty is still a better player though. More lyrical in his playing, and just an all-around a joy to listen to. Broderick is a show off, and plays too many notes. Please: never ever criticize Marty or demean him again in any way.[/Nick Cormier]
