The guitarists that play real country music are positively destructive. Go back far enough, and a lot of it comes from jazz. You can see the hints of it with the Wes Montgomery inspired octaves he plays about halfway through.

Danny Gatton was one of the best guitarists who ever walked the face of the earth.



Johnny Hiland is what happens if you take Danny and run him through a smoothness filter.



Brent Mason played just about every hot solo you can think of in the 90s country scene. Here he is with Vince Gill, a great guitarist in his own right.



Albert Lee is proof that you don't have to be from the American south to tear it up country style. He probably did more to influence the 90s Nashville scene than most American guitarists.



Chet Atkins needs no introduction--here he is sweep picking back in 1975!--but Jerry Reed is probably one of the most under-appreciated guitarists in the genre.



Brad Paisley is arguably the best of the new crop. He'll also gear snob with the best of 'em, with his wall of custom Dr Z amps and boutique overdrives:
