distressed_romeo (and Desecrated and anyone else for that matter): if you haven't heard of him, Tommy Emmanuel is also pretty good, and he has made some good music. for those who dont know he is australian, has been putting out records for like 20 years and was a close friend and student of chet atkins and finger picks chet atkins style.

i dont really know wich songs to show you but ill throw a few that i like:

cannonball rag version:

the tall fiddler (gets pretty intense after one and a half minutes or so)

and a couple of songs that might not all that special technique-wise, but i find them really beautiful.

i always thought of you (it is in drop D)

and another beautifully composed piece to my ears, bella soave:

his first albums from the 80s and 90s aren't that much my taste, but the past few he has released in the 00's has been good, and his songs are really entertaining to play. it is good stuff if you want to practice thumbpicking technique etc.

btw he also has an instructional video released (that i know of), "up close". its about playing his songs, but alot of general fingerpicking and thumbpicking, here is one random piece from youtube (there is lots more). this particular song he uses some cool harmonics as well. check it out if you haven't:
