Who else here likes these geniuses? Inoculated Life and With Their Flesh He'll Create are some of the best dm songs ever imo, and Obscura is just off the wall!

hell yeah, I love all their albums, but The Erosion of Sanity is my favorite. So dark and heavy, interesting/thoughtful lyrics.... "Hideous Infirmity" is one of the most crushing songs ever

I want to try to trick a classical listener to listen to Dormant Misery. I mean someone who only listens to classical and despises distortion and br00tals. I'd imagine it'd go something liek this:

"ah, now beautiful melodiez fron gorguts. that's strange name for a guitar duet though." *head is blasted off by the onslaught of riffs and screaming*

From Wisdom to Hate is also a wicked DM album. There are not a lot of bands that sound like them, very unique.

I haven't heard any post-Gorguts material yet though...

I love Gorguts, one of the first technical death metal bands I got into, and have loved them ever since.

Negativa isn't bad either, although in places it does sound a bit like they are still trying to be Gorguts, but apparently the new material is going to change

Yes Gorguts do have a complex writing style although they are not formally trained ....they still rock

Luc Lemay has a college degree in classical studies where he learned theory, counterpoint and some performance based stuff. He just purposefully did his best to forget about it when the band started writing for Obscura and everything afterwards...
