![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | To all the guys with FR trem's.. Do you use any techniques other then dives? how long did it take you to learn trem tricks? I was listening to "Prosperity" by The Absence (instrumental ftw) and wondering how one goes about learning trem techniques. I like the sounds you can make with an FR, but they still intimidate me. I'm a TOM/stoptail guy for life, but i wouldnt mind 1 FR'd guirat. discuss! ![]() 3 cheers for free gear! "Do you like burned toast with your JAM? cuz we're on FIRE!" ![]() |

I love putting wide vibrato on octaves with the bar. That, and wild flutters. Flutters are when you hit a note then smack the whammy bar hard. It vibrates & flutters around and the note goes apeshit. It sounds great! ![]() |

I use the Floyd on my Loomis for all sorts of stuff like subtle little vibrato effects. Tom Morello on an Audioslave song, whose title I cannot remember, uses it to dive between pitches which is pretty fun. A good trem really opens up a lot of sonic possibilities. ![]() | One sweet uses of the FR I've seen is the Under a Glass Moon solo. I don't use the trem on my S470 anymore as the arm holding mechanism is busted and it's amazingly difficult to get the parts. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | All of my guitars have floyds on them. I mainly just use them for subtle vibrato or prebends when coming into a note. (1/2 a step up or down depending on what I'm doing). Watch Vai and Satch they use them in some "interesting" ways. Can I be the devil on your shoulder? ![]() |

![]() | ^ One of my favorite things Vai does with the bar is doing little gracenotes by putting the bar under his hand and striking the string and the bar at the same time. Check it out at the end of his song "Building the Church".
