[Blood Tempest]

It's now past 2pm in Delaware. I have a vocalist tryout at 7pm with a band in Vineland, NJ called Triggered Impulse. Been practicing my arse off and I'm hoping to high hell I can get it. The dudes are really cool, no drug use, just drinking, down to earth, and the music is pretty good. They're old vocalist got the boot because he lacked in the clean vox department. They've gotten some airplay on the local rock station, WYSP 94.1FM for the "Loud and Local" segment various times. They have a lot of new material, enough for a new album, so there is great potential for me with this band, IF I get the spot. So wish me luck guys!!! Thanks!

Thanks guys! I'll definitely post a follow up tonight and give details on how it went and if I think they would pick me or not. I've been looking for a new band since I split from my first band in late November last year. It was hard to find anything at all, let alone anything worthwhile. Good luck finding something yourself!

They just want to play like "As I lay dying" type shit. Breakdown in every fucking song and screaming vocals.

Me? Probably like some Doom prog or something to that nature.Something like Black Sabbath, meets odd time sigs, meets zeppelin, meets Pink Floyd, meets thrash, meets Protest the hero (acoustic shit too) Crazy shit I know. But then it also depends on the people I'm with and what we come up with. I guess I'm just looking for open minded people.

Gotcha. Can't say I blame you. Open minded music is definitely best. These dudes told me all of the new material they have is much different than their demo, in a more progressive/technical way. They have some hardcore elements, but it's mainly metal.

Nice Yeah, for sure it is man. I'm into doing the same shit as everybody else. I don't mind nods to other bands in the music, but I don't want to sound like everybody else (now watch me join a band that sounds like everybody else ). Prog is where its at.
I'm into some bands like Mastodon ,Baroness, The fall of Troy, The Sword, Witchcraft, Electric Wizard, so that might help you if your trying to picture what I was saying.

Got it. Yeah I definitely know what you mean. Just kinda infusing your own thing on styles you already enjoy and making it progressive in the direction you collectively choose as a band. That's definitely what music is all about. Be inspired, not a clone.
