sorry for sounding a little uppity on this, but i just get a tad bored when i hear a female metal vocalist resorting to one tone throughout almost an entire track.

especially when it's accompanied by harsh / then totally clean with no bridge between approach. what happened in the middle ground? how did you suddenly get there? and more often than not it appears that the lyrics haven't changed to support such an abject shift in emotion, warranting delivering something like that.

fact is, more and more females are doing this now. therefore it's not enough, in my mind, to sit back on the fact that you're female and you can sound like a hardcore kid at opportune moments. in the true sense of gender equality, i demand to hear as full a range as possible from the singer i'm listening to, no matter what their gender, after all - we've all got the same instruments.

for me it's a bit like someone saying "oh look, check it out, this chick actually picked up a guitar and played refuse/resist". kind of demeaning, really.
