Ditto here, just with Pandora.com.

Anyone who DOESN'T think that song is fucking epic has something wrong with them, IMO.

I haven't heard the new album, but I like most of thier new stuff (as well as the old stuff) so hopefully I'll dig it. If it's anything like STYE or RTR I'll be happy.

All the different In Flames eras have their place. I'm sure fans of their new stuff can see why some prefer the old, just as fans of their old stuff can see why people like the new shit.

In general metal fans are just very close minded and adverse to change. I remember the outlash at Slayer when they released a 7-string album, they called them nu-metal and weak despite the fact it was just as heavy as their old stuff just not as thrashy. Of course Kerry King buckled under the pressure like a coward and immediately denounced the 7-string.

Now, personally I don't love the overproduced sound of newer In Flames, I miss the myriad of guitar harmonies and catchy riffs that seem to have gone to the wayside in favor of melodic vocals, synths, and chug riffs. That said they can still write good songs, it's just not my preferred style. Clayman is the pinnacle for me.

However, I own and enjoy their entire catalog to some degree

Hawkevil has a spectacular aura about
The thing I have always loved about In Flames is how they are so unpredictable. They are always changing. They are amazing song writers and are always trying to find ways to push their song writing abilities. I do prefer the old stuff with the folk influences but the new stuff is equally as good but in different ways.

This is nice album, but to be honest there is nothing to ME interesting enough to listen it more than once, maybe two
I prefer alder stuff, but it's just MY opinion.

I'm sorry, but I've said it before, I'm saying it now, and I will continue to say it. New In Flames is just not up to the same standard of quality as old In Flames. Come Clarity bored me to tears, where as Colony gets me completely going, even though the production values are roughly the same. The biggest difference was the quality of the songwriting.

Good to see there are some other open minded metal heads that dig In Flames here.

This band is an ever growing group of musicians that retains their roots, whether you can believe that or not, if you are a true follower of the band you can hear it throughout their entire catalog. I think they're the definition of a great band that has great longevity. They stay true to their roots, but they are ever evolving in talent and song writing, pushing themselves to write great music and I strongly feel that it shows greatly within each album and each individual song. Each album has a distinct sound and difference throughout their career and I think they all shine. I love this band to death, so it may seem extremely biased, but I honestly love everything from Lunar Strain and Subterranean to the small amount of A Sense of Purpose that I've sampled. I can't wait for this album. I'm sure it will become an instant classic to me with the rest of the In Flames catalog and will be my personal album of 2008.

Dark clouds in your heaven.
Your end has only begun.
You can scream but there's no rescue,
I promise I'll make you sure that you die in time.

I'm going to have to eat my words here - Been listening to the Mirror's Truth and it is utter shite. Not a patch on Dead Alone or Dial 595-Escape.

I'll still buy the album, judging a band on its singles isn't really fair. In Flames' singles haven't ever been an indication of the quality of the rest of the album. Look at Come Clarity - the single was watered down pish.

I know people hate bumping threads, but I figured I would do this instead of starting a new topic..since people hate that too.

I prejudged this album. Hard. I skimmed through it, didn't really dig it, and then left it alone for a while.

Now I'm listening with fresh ears, and honestly, it's not AS great as it could be, but there are some absolutely INCREDIBLE songs on here.

The song that got me back listening was The Chosen Pessimist. A completely un-In Flames song, Anders' honesty in his vocals is just fantastic, and I can't get enough of how sad/empty feeling he sounds (that sounds terrible ).

So yeah. Chosen Pessimist= sexes my sox.
