Can't wait to get my hands on this album. I refuse to download it, even though I am buying it. I just wish it was coming out sooner than April here in the States. All of the sample clips I've heard sounded fantastic. It sounds like every era of In Flames (including something new I can't put my finger on) combined into one amazing sound. It's gonna be soooo great.

Stitch hit the nail (or horse) on the head. I'm sick of the In Flames haters. I don't even think most peoples' opinion on their sound are even their own. People hear the In Flames trash talk and conform to the belief without even listening themselves. Not saying thats the case in this thread. I'm just sick of everyone hating a band that they should have a ton of respect for if they're a true fan of metal today. If it wasn't for bands like In Flames, At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, etc. there would be some serious differences. Not saying everyone has to like In Flames, but at least respect them and don't bad talk a band that's done a lot of great things for metal.

I love their new stuff personally. Much more musical and interesting compared to Lunar Strain or Subterranean.

Did anyone notice how similar The Mirror's Truth and Disconnected sounded. I'm halfway through Disconnected now..trying to hope for another kick ass In Flames album now. *fingers crossed*

I get to see them live in April, and even a possibility to play guitar to Bullet Ride with them on stage.

Well I know you wern't addressing me directly, but sorry but that is my opinion. I do respect them, colony and clayman are two of my favorite albums. I respect metallica, but I dont like St Anger. I havent drawn my opinion of them from anyone but myself, Ive never even talked or read about it besides this thread.

But yeah, I have a tonne of resepect for everything they have done up untill what I said. They're probably one of the bigger influences in my playing, and a fuck load of todays bands aswell. That doesn't mean I have to like the video where the song starts as Anders presses play on his I-pod.

Edit: I actually thought some of their tone and song writing got a better lately, (still not as good as clayman or colony IMO.), some awsome riffs in there too. But everything together just isnt striking a chord for me like it used too. And I actually like cloud connected.

IrfaanSE801 is a jewel in the rough
I actually downloaded it this morning with no hopes of me liking it, but I was very surprised. The new EP and the 30 second clips I heard on another site sounded very generic to me, but after hearing the full songs I'm actually diggin this album. They have some pretty interesting things and have some great melodies in there, I'm definitely picking this up when it comes out. I'm not loving it more or less than the older stuff, but it's different in a nice way.

Agree. I like Clayman a lot, but RTR/STYE are my favorites, and amongst longtime fans those are usually the ones that get the worst reviews.

I've only heard "The Mirror's Truth", but the chorus line of "We aren't even trying" is painfully appropriate. I'll hold out until I hear the whole album, because I've liked every In Flames album except STYE (also painfully appropriate), but that song certainly doesn't bode well.
