That's a well known and highly respected solo imo.
It's even in the "Top 100 solos of all time" by Guitar World magazine.

Was it?! The reason i mentioned it was because i never hear anyone commend it! I chose it because it's amazingly heartfelt and soulful, not because it's technical, which is why i guessed it was overlooked. Yay guitar world then

Yep, It's made from bits of real Panther... so you know it's good.

yea, when it comes to underrated solos i feel that stairway to heaven and floods aint really underrated

Arch enemy - The Immortal (Burning Bridges) - starts at about 2:00. best solo they did, awesome drive in it. do check it out.
In Flames - December Flower (The Jester Race) - starts at about 1:25, cool solo, simple yet i have never heard anything really similar.
Dream Theater - Voices (Awake) - starts at about 7:25.. sure not underrated but its never anyone's first DT choice, it is mine

edit: add another DT "outsider" if there is such a thing , Blind Faith (6D), second solo, starts at about 7:55, amazingly playful with triplets popping in and out. love it

Eat Shit. Billions of flies can't be wrong.

You know, I never hear about the solo from Jet to Jet when people are talking about Malmsteen.

You do when I am. It might be his best work, period. ("Hiroshima, Mon Amour" is pretty damn good, too...)

My pick for this would be two Blackmore solos, from Rainbow's AOR period - "Stone Cold" and "Street of Dreams", both nice average ballad-ish AOR tunes with some absolutely brilliantly subtle solos from The Man.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

Tony Iommi - "Heaven and Hell"

I usually don't like Iommi solos much, but he pretty much knocked it out of the park with this one.
