Texas Metal Fest (56K)

As some of you may know, the Texas Metal Fest was yesterday in Houston, TX. Some bands of interest were divine heresy and devil driver. Anyway, my head still hurts, and I just want ya'll to enjoy these pictures.

First, in the car with my band. Singer's driving, drummer's in the front seat. I'm in the back with the (clusterfucked) bassist.

Night falls as we are driving out of Dallas.

Remember how I said "clusterfucked" bassist?

As with every trip we take, the traditional bassist-drummer fight. Some of you may remember a singer-bassist fight I posted pictures of a few weeks ago.

I guess he was tired.

Stopped at a rest station in butt-fuck-nowhere. Singer decides to voice his opinion to me.

The second drummer-bassist fight of our trip. A little to happy for getting the shit beat out of 'em.

We liked the trees around the rest area, so picture time.

The camo jacket actually turned out to be very useful for holding demos, cellphones, carkeys, money, merchandise, and other valubles!

On the road again, we see a sign. We must name one of our songs, "Tot U Kou Ally"

The outskirts of Houston.

We decide we like the van next to us, so we take a picture of em.

A view from outside the hotel we rented. See the train? Yea, we heard it's horn after we payed for the room. It only went by once that night, though.

Hungry! Let's eat at Denny's.

"Louis, I'm obligated to love you, so I'm going to take out my anger on my own body. Let's go to Denny's."

The very nice waitress that served us.

Walking back to the hotel.

Good morning! There's that fucking train.

It's going to be a long day.

On the road again.

Downtown Dallas is much more interesting.

And random driving to the club pictures. Doors were supposed to open at 9am.

Is this anyone's car?

Houston's getting some urban development.

At the venue, standing outside looking like idiots.

Holy shit what's that???

DEVIL DRIVER!!!

Some lady was selling tickets for $10 off door price ($30) because her son was drumming in a band. Good deal.

Job shirts.

Merch tables.

One of the first bands... Forget their name.

Innocence, eh?

I think they're called Dead Line. They were phenomenal!

At one point, to the dismay of the security guards, he demanded everyone get on stage and rock with them. There goes clusterfucked!

At one point the singer grabbed his fro. Hilarious.

Point of interest

The venue had some interesting artwork.

Tommy Vext really liked this mask they were selling, so drummerboy helped him take a picture of it with his iphone.

I got really excited because I saw a Universe... Pretty shoddy picture though.

Dino's setup.

Drummerboy requested I take lots of pictures of Tim Yeung, his idol.

And here is Divine Heresy. Beware, shoddy side-of-stage pictures.

Security guards were getting pissed. Tommy stopped the show twice because of conflicts with guards... You know, throwing crowd surfers off the stage. If I had been in the pit, I would have gone up.

Apparently he was using a different kit than his own?

Tommy is HUGE in real life.

Dino playing his xiphos... can really only see his face.

At one point Dino and Tommy went into the crowd. Here's Dino rushing by with his xiphos after soloing in the crowd. My bassist apparently protected him from moshers.

Point of Interest

My drummer's life is complete now.

We left after Devil Driver played "End of the Line." Sorry, but it has been 17 hours at the metalfest... Time to go sleep.

Wake up at the next hotel, nice view, I guess..

Not so much.

Let's get home.

Sam Houston statue.

Ah, a much more pleasing skyline.

What a Djentleman!

Dude, your singer looks EXTRA white in this picture, and i'm not talking about the color of his skin.

Your drummers like "I'm badass!" and your singers like... "I'm.... Driving! ?"

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.
