i cant say i follow you, if your bending up to a note then yeah you can bend into tune but i cant say iv ever seen anyone use vibrato to do anything other than sustain a note (and in doing so resulted in knocking the note further out than it already is. Maybe my understanding of it isnt as comprehensive as it should be though.

Hmm, you like the Buzz Feiten mod? How about the Earvana nut?

I have enough problems with my guitar playing, I can use all the help I can get!

ChaNce is a jewel in the rough
I got one of the Peterson strobe tuners. It has a setting that, if you use the tuner and set up intonation according to their instructions, slightly offsets each string so that chords sound great up and down the neck. There are two settings, a "jazz" setting for complex chords, and a "Root5" setting for power chords. So if you are recording, you tune for each need.

Seriously, save your pennies for one of these strobe tuners. They are awesome, and teach you a ton about what being in tune sounds like.

Being slightly out of tune sounds better.

ghoti has a spectacular aura about
It's the weakness of any instrument in equal temperament. The best you can get is not precisely "in tune" unless you use just-temperament...in which case you then are limited to the number of keys you can play in...

That said, a skillful player with a well-made instrument can moderate this to some degree, and if you use an instrument like most non-fretted strings or a slide trombone, you can bypass this problem. Of course, popular music usually bypasses the problem by limiting the number of keys songs get written in...

Question authority. Don't ask why, just do it.
