LOW: russian basso profundo

the wife and i, last night, surfing youtube for vocal prowess after a particularly inspiring singing lesson, found this:

in my opinion, way more evil sounding than many of today's extreme metal singers.

i have a cd of this stuff that i bought after hearing about this almost 2 years ago....it's actually the one they show the cover(s) of at the beginning of the video. unfortunately the track that's in this video (or at least the last 30 seconds or so of it) is the best thing on it. the rest is kinda boring, honestly.

My favorite big bass is Isaac Freeman of the Fairfield Four (Yeah, I know that there are 5 of them!) This is a decent example of their work, but their own recordings are WAY better. The guy sounds like a 2000 lb bullfrog. He died recently, but not before he appeared in "Oh, Brother, where art Thou?". He was digging the grave singing Lonesome Valley.

Anyway....

Wow, sounds like Michael Clark Duncan singing in Russian.

I keep expecting him to sing about a decadent sauce.
