Black Metal anyone?

Bands like Sargeist, Emperor, Carpathian Forest, Nachtmystium, Darkthrone, etc?

If anyone plays in a black metal band, post your bands link....otherwise open black metal discussion...

I like black metal a lot too. Belphegor (favorite), Immortal, Bloodthorn, And Oceans, Windir, Emperor, Dark Funeral, and Dimmu Borgir and a few that I listen to.

RIP MIKE

I've been into "modern" black metal (discounting Venom, Celtic Frost and the like) since around Immortal's Pure Holocaust. There were a few years where I didn't feel there was much good stuff being released (around the time that it became cool to have a one-man band with absolutely no attempt at production values), but it has definitely rebounded in recent years, and the style has probably remained my favourite overall.

My recent rotations have included Deathspell Omega, Glorior Belli, Watain, and Marduk's Rom 5:12. Pretty well anything that Ajna puts out is good with me these days.

Gallhammer's Ill Innocence was my pick of 2007 as far as metal albums go. I prefer my black metal in the more direct, crusty vein (in fact, it's the only true/trve/tr00 way to do it in my opinion); bands like Nattlefrost, Malveillance, Ildjarn etc. The crap like Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth has nothing to do with black metal as far as I'm concerned, but whatever.

Random sidenote: I wore a Darkthrone shirt to a gig I was playing with a Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band and some drunken punter yelled "HELL YEAR, DORKTHONG ROCKS!" at me between songs

Yep, BM fan here! Emperor's 'Promethus' album was the reason i picked up 7's. At the moment I'm digging France's black metal scene (Glorior Belli, Arkhon Infaustus, Deathspell Omega). Generally I like bands that try to tweak the formula a bit, not just another Darkthrone.

Such as:

Agalloch, Tulus, Khold, The Axis Of Perdition, Shining & Bergraven.

You guys are listing some seriously kickass bands...it's good to see people who appreciate black metal...The band that got me into the scene was Old Man's Child, the album Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion....I was like 12 lol...The funniest thing though is that I listen to heavy music like Black Metal, Death Metal, Deathcore, and Grindcore....but I dress in Hollister...lol...I love the work Ihsahn did on Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk, That cd blew me away...You guys should check out my friends band Disaria, they are a pretty good bm band (non seven stringers) but hey to each their own...they mix a good portion of Prog, Death and Black Metal....

Year - Blackmetal too - but mostly some Ambient/more dark feeling stuff lige Shining. Actually im propably entering a Danish black metal band (we have rehearsed a couple of time together and i think i got the time for it). The have some old Tunes on MS - but the production is self-financed, so the sound is not that great (Blackmetal style :-)). Here is some URLs for both bands.
