Upon first listen this is very reminiscent of the instrumental parts of The Fragile - they've captured that mood very nicely. I'm really digging it.
There's an official NIN YouTube channel with some clips of the recording process, including an awesome MIDIfied Yamaha upright piano being triggered by a Monome MIDI controller. That's a major GAS attack for me if there every was one!

I thought the same thing. I couldn't get into Year Zero at all but this is much more Fragile-Like, and that is one of my fave NIN CDs.

I ordered and paid for the $10 version and eventually was able to download all the tracks from the link they provided, just had to be patient. The artwork tagged to each track is fantastic, and you also get a stack of wallpapers and a PDF which is essentially a blown-up CD booklet, with some AMAZING photos of the guys in the studio. The 2CD itself is shipping 5 April, which is the Australian release date.

Best $10 I have spent since putting in a pre-order in for the new Asylum!

I'm listening to the free download of Ghosts I (the first part) while waiting for the site to come back up so I can get my download of the full album.

So far I'm on track 2 and it's already blowing my mind.

Those who said it's like the instrumental parts of The Fragile were right. It's very cool stuff, and I've been waiting for Trent to do an album like this for a long time. The Fragile might be my favourite NIN album so far, though it's kind of a close tie between it, Year Zero, and The Downward Spiral. This new album so far is ranking in with those.

Thats what i thought too. As most people have. Theres a bit of year zero/his new sound mixed in slightly aswell. Its very similar to the last few songs off both the fragile cd's. I have it downloaded, and i am bout to listen! can't wait till the cd is shipped too me i wish i had the 300 for the pimping case, booklet and the mans signature!! lol he's like my god

i got the first set off their site. some cool, eclectic stuff. There's one track that reminded me of a Brian Eno tune from Ambient 1.
I tried buying the full thing on Amazon but its giving me trouble with my payment type, so i can't get it to work. dunno wtf the problem is.

I got the $5 download version, which is on it's way now. I believe it is going to be awesome. I also think it's awesome that they just wrote, recorded, mix, mastered and released almost two hours of tracks without telling anyone. Like "Oh, by the way here's a new album." Then everyone went apeshit trying to find out what the hell it was.

Jetzt liegst du hier, ganz regungslos, in meiner hand und meinem schoß, du bist so kalt...
