So im trying to start an Ambience Chillout Type Project but having problems

I can hear all this really kinda chilled ambient simple music in my head but just cant get in out and into my computer! i got all the shizz like Cubase - Reason etc i have everything i need and have done for ages and know how to use it all so its not that but i just cant find how to start with it all.

With my band Seasons End i almost litrully go insane with the new demos we'r doing cus i do all the production and a fair bit of the writing too and i stress SOOO much over it i need a simple chilled project that doesnt really matter and is just to give me somethin to do that isnt my main band cus i always have to be doing somethin. OCD to the max sometimes! hah

Iv really been into that sorta style/genre for ages but since finding this song i decided to just do it for myself really...

None of it properly song structure like verses choruses etc but just go with the flow from section to section and medoly to melody and see wat happens but ya - i have all these weird lil licks and riffs n shit that sound cool but cant get them to sound how i hear them in my head with all the mass ambience and Digital effects and watnot happenin with em (tis all very devin townsend kinda ambience so lots happening that fattens out the whole sound)

CANT FIND THE BEGGINGING!!!! driving me made

say what?

1. plug into rig.
2. apply reverb and a dash of delay.
3. start playing some clean stuff. take it from there.

do you absolutely have to record it all, or can you just chill out and play some ambient stuff?

3 cheers for free gear!

i always had a grand time playign with my ex-roomies MG. i'd mix some reverb and delay and go - came up with some pretty sweet lines that way.
