![]() | The Dillinger Escape Plan On Conan So I was waiting for this all week and when they finally played I was quite surprised by their song selection. If you've heard the new CD, Ire Works, then you've probably heard "Black Bubblegum". I think the song is pretty cool, not quite my favorite, but definitely an interesting one for them. So it was weird hearing them play it last night. I just thought it was an odd choice for a TV appearance (I would have figured they would play Milk Lizard or something). Another strange thing was that Jeff Tuttle was singing backup. I think it would be interesting if they started using that more when they play songs like "We Are The Storm", "Unretrofied", or even "When Good Dogs Do Bad Things". That be a peculiar element to add for them, seeing as how Greg's voice doesn't really translate to singing very well after screaming. Just pondering........ I thought the performance was good and was worth running on little sleep for it today, but I think they would have done better with another song. They just seemed a little out of their element. I don't want to sound like a douche who thinks they should play the same thing though. Nice to see them getting some more attention though.RedLasso - Conan 2/6/2008- The Dillinger Escape Plan Still one of my favorites. ![]() |

It's not that they're BAD at it, but when it comes to the "tech" thing, DEP do it better than anyone else, and their are a million bands that do the diet-FNM things, so it's disappointint to know they're one of them now. Oh well. | |

![]() | Unusual song for their style, but then they don't really care about doing the same thing over and over again. I'm guessing they'll be drifting in various stylistic directions for many years to come, thus continuously pissing off people who were getting used to one particular style. |

![]() | I think they just wanted to confuse me with ire works, there are moments of rhythmic brilliance and random interlude noise songs like from calculating infinity, then there's this. I still enjoyed the album but the way they built it up made it kinda disappointing. Eg, the singer claimed nothing they'd written had any singing at all and it was a return to CI, then I hear it and really it's more singing than anything else. Jetzt liegst du hier, ganz regungslos, in meinem hand und meinem schoß, du bist so kalt... |
