Well I can only speak for myself, but I wasn't putting them on the same level as FNM or any of Patton's projects, just pointing out that they rip that stuff off quite blatantly this time round. If this was a debut album by some other band, it'd be enjoyable, but DEP were the leaders of a unique style and now they're followers of a sound two decades old. The funny thing is, if DEP had released Ire Works as their first album, Patton would probably hate them

As far as their douchebaggery is concerned, I've read things they've said in interviews and heard/witnessed incidents at shows that totally support that statement. I tend to agree with them on their general philosophy, so I let it slide, but either way, I don't really care. Plus, they picked a fight with Avenged Sevenfold, which has to make up for something

I try not to shit on every DEP thread I see, but seeing FNM comparisons sicken me.

Also could be because I just don't "get" the whole *core thing either..

I don't think they rip off FNM as much as people think.

Ben and Chris picked a new singer... RIGHT AFTER doing their EP with Patton and picked a guy that happens to have some vocal traits similar to Patton, as a result, they've ended up with some Patton sounding material... aside from Black Bublegum though, I don't see anything too blatent/hero worshiping.

They are ALL wearing their influences on their sleeves a little bit more but I'd be hardpressed to call them nothing but a Patton rip-off machine. A lot of the elements in their music could come from NUMEROUS sources/influences/artists, it's just Patton has pretty-fuckin'-much had his creative intent stuck in every genre-mashing pie out there and vocally Greg makes it hard to look past that sometimes.

However, I am a massive DEP supporter, and always will be.

dillinger are good dudes man, ive met them on a personal level and they were down to earth, ben is a little weird but i still a nice guy, ive seen greg grab people and shake them while singing usually its just a mutual thrash session but one time he bummed a kid out at a show in new york and they stopped the show so greg couls appologize, what you see in that video is greg and the rest of the band being pissed because chris pennie had just let them know that he was jumping ship, it dosent give them the excuse to do what they did,,but im sure they were pretty pissesd off,they are only humans that make mistakes. for them to lose there drummer was tragedy, not many drummers out there can hang with dep's time sigs.

not trying to change your mind or anything, they rubbed you wrong and disrespected your hometown scene and thats fucked for sure.

i love dillinger and i dont see how ire works is any less of an album then there others.

the second track "lurch" is a masterpiece in its self, imo they could of released ire works with just that song, its truly one of there best songs ever imo. try playing it on guitar, hardest dep song i have ever try to learn, blows sugar coated sour out of the water in my eyes
