The Killers

So, I bought Guitar Hero 3, but that's not what this topic is about.

I played When You Were Young, and got instantly hooked on it.

So, I got $75 in gift cards for iTunes on Christmas this past xmas.

I bought When You Were Young separately.
After A while, I said "what the hell" and bought the rest of the album (Sam's Town) because I was bored.

So about 3 weeks pass and I haven't even listened to any of the songs going, "Wow, that was a waste of money."
I shouldn't have spent some of my credit because I was bored.
I had never listened to any of their stuff before.

But then I listen to a song called Read My Mind.
It blew mine.

Then, Uncle Jonny.
That song is by far my favorite song on that album.

I listened to the rest of the album.

It is simply amazing.

My wife loves their first album, but she wasn't all that fond of the second one. They're pretty good live if you're into retro '80s pop-rock...which, of course, I'm not. Can you tell that I played the dutiful husband?

Not to rain on your parade but I hate them with a vengeance. I will wear their skin as trophies.

But life isn't as Rousseau intended...

Anyway my point is I hate retro. Period. Do something new/original. kthxby

Same here. Imo, they've become pretty arrogant. But since we're discussing the music...
Have you heard the new song that is on the "Joy Division" movie soundtrack (can't recall the name of the film)?
Their influence on The Killers is quite obvious.

No, I don't really know that '80s New Wave stuff all that well. That's my wife's territory. It was funny, though, at the Killers show we went to a couple of years ago (touring for the first album)--we both grew up in the '80s and were having a riot picking out all of the obvious influences on that band. Everything from U2 to Gary Numan. The best part was that all of the little college kids around us probably had no idea...
