Some of the Ibanez stuff does look really nice, but they've jacked the prices up even more this year. I know the country that the guitar is built in shouldn't mean as much nowadays, but $1066 for something made in Indonesia?! Come on. Made in Japan maybe. I just think you can get more for $1066 nowadays.

That's a valid issue, not to mention the fact that I saw that guitar first-hand and was a little shocked at the inlay. Quite a bit of filler, even for an Indonesian guitar. However, aside from that, I picked up the guitar and played around with it for a bit and personally I believe it felt solid, played well, had nicely rounded frets and a comfortable neck carve. That finish looks great in person too.

So yeah, other than the so-so job on the inlays I think it's definitely a great 7 overall so hopefully it doesn't get priced too high. Keep in mind when you say "what the fuck at 1066 for an Indonesian made guitar" that you're not actually going to end up paying that much for one dude. Look at it this way:

Xiphos 6 LIST PRICE = $866.65
Xiphos 6 ACTUAL PRICE (according to Music123.com as of 1/21/08): $649.99

The street price ended up being 25% of the List Price shown at NAMM so if the Xiphos 7 is $1066.65 List @ NAMM it COULD likely end up at around $800 which is totally reasonable for what it is IMHO.

Like Matt said, don't take any price you see at face value. Those are all MSRP, and NOBODY charges MSRP.
