![]() | Slipknot: Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses Alright, so since I first began listening to heavier music, Slipknot was one of my favorite bands. Up until I first found out about Dream Theater, all I listened to was Nu-Metal and the like. So I basically listened to NO Slipknot for the past... 2 years or so. I decided after a friend gave it props to grab the Vol. 3 album. And wow! This album is fucking great. The guitar work is good, amazing drumming as usual by Joey, and Corey's vocals are better than ever. The structure for the songs on the album is absolutely sick (sic?) . Anyways, just thought I'd vent that I'm really diggin this album right now, and open it as a topic for discussion. What are your guys' opinions!? ![]() Gather ye rosebuds while ye may Olde time is still a-flying And the same flower that smiles today Tommorow will be dying... |

I'm not a Slipknot fan by any means, but I think they have some pretty awesome songs ("Duality" being my favorite). Sometimes when I go to karaoke, I sing: "Wait And Bleed", "Left Behind", and "Duality." |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I really dig Slipknot. Saw the 'Disasterpieces' DVD and became a fan (in large part because of Joey's drumming , but also becasue they put on a hell of a show. )I can see why some don't like Vol. 3, because it's not as straight-up brutal as the first 2. But they have matured, and their sound has come a ways beyond the more 'simplistic' riffs of yesteryear. Like you point out, great arrangements, and the vox/songwriting have improved, I think. They're like 2 sides of a coin... the first 2 albums are one type of musical idea, the 3rd is another. All together, they make a pretty compelling metal theme. Just got the live album, and it kicks serious ass. Those guys are really tight. http://www.wolf.org |

![]() | Saw them live twice in january. it kicked ass. All the brutality missing from the 3rd album is still in the live show, so it's not like they've gone soft, though the first 2 albums were much better. |

I should watch that sometime and see if I can spot myself or my friends. I think their musicianship has been allowed to shine through a lot more on the new album and it's much better for it. |
