Fantastic. Amazing. Wonderful, etc. He's probably my favorite bassist. The yamaha clinic videos that he did (in Japan?) are so funny and cool.

He is a great player, probably one of the first guys i really admired when I started playing bass, him along with Marcus Miller.

He tone is too similar to a guitar player though, I mean he even does pinch harmonics!

yeah, his bass sounds sometimes like a guitar, I love his playing, he uses bass more like electric guitar when soloing, than like a bass

What's wrong with pinch harmonics on bass? People say guys like him and Cliff Burton sound like guitarists...but to me they just sound like bassists.

He's an awesome player. Not quite the tone I like to go for when I play, but he's got great chops...one of the best ever. Of course, my favorite actual sounds on the bass would be Geddy Lee, Jaco, Entwhistle, etc...a different sound than the P-type...

As a musician, you take what you can from whatever inspires you and try to make it your own. I remember Geddy Lee talking about taking some stuff from classical guitar technique...but you wouldn't think he plays anything but bass...and he's definitely one of my favorites.
