For the last 6-7 months, I've lived in Choshi, Chiba, which is 3 hours east of Tokyo (meaning nowadays I never go to Tokyo). I've never lived west of Tokyo (where Machida is), although I have been to Kamakura, Yokohama, and many of the other cities in the near southwest vicinity of Tokyo.

I'll probably be moving to Ikebukuro in Northern Tokyo.
Machida is a blast. I used to go there frequently (every weekend practically..lol). I remember
Saitama and Yokohama too. I have relatives in Kasukabe and Tokorozawa. I remember those cities too. One of these days, I'll be going back to visit.

You know, back when I lived there, skateboarding was huge and we'd go to these skateboard shops in Machida and Tokyo and meet some Japanese skateboarders. They were metalheads listening to Anthrax's Among The Living and Metallica, etc but I also noticed that they liked punk rock alot too.

I used to be a skater and a huuuge punk (I still love punk music, primarily hardcore, post-hardcore, and metal-punk). Every single skater I've met in Japan has been into punk music. I'm sure there are some into metal, but most of the ones I've met who are into metal are into punk-friendly metal like Slayer and Anthrax and punk-metal like Suicidal Tendencies and Poison The Well (all 4 are awesome bands that I personally really like).

"Everything" is in Tokyo and I'd never really heard much about Machida, so I had no reason to ever go there.

Yeah, when I lived in Kawagoe, Tokorozawa was about 20 minutes away. I went there like twice. Kawagoe had more fun stuff than Tokorozawa; so I didn't go there much...
