I don't normally listen to death metal, but hot damn this rules :metal:

MySpace.com - DECREPIT BIRTH(RIP BEN) - SANTA CRUZ, California - Death Metal / Progressive - www.myspace.com/decrepitbirth

"A Gathering of Imaginations" is destroying me. I've listened to it like 10 times in a row

Going to have to pick up their new album when it comes out.

...and they're from just over the hill

My question to you guys is: who else sounds like this? I think they've turned me into a death metal fan for sure.

Mah musics.

I cant read anything about the newer stuff without hearing/reading death (the band) and cynic (hell death and cynic aren't NOT mentioned in the same sentence together ever).

And their first album is awesome ridiculous. Extreme death talking about science stuff (the coming together of the planets, stuff like that) and their singer looks like jesus

I'm really looking forward to this album. It seems to smoke their previous one. You should check out a lot of the bands on their friends list actually! Necrophagist, Reciprocal, Odious Mortem, Psycroptic, Spawn of Possession, The Shattering, Anata, Deadborn, Martyr, Capharnaum, Braindrill, Anomalous, etc. I think you can find them all pretty easily on myspace.

I have heard a couple of people say that tim yeung isn't a very good/fast/whatever drummer, and when they do, I can only refer them to this album and watch them as their jaws drop at some of the fills.

Tim is dubbed trve

Cool deal. I listened to Odious Mortem and bought one of their CD's before even finishing listening to the first song. I'm like 3 into their myspace now and they kick serious ass too.

Yeah, Cali death metal is often quite killer. This new breed (which all seems to rest on the axis of KC Howard) is really quite a change from anything that came before it. It's not like Deeds or Disgorge, where there was virtually no repetition, and the production has gone way, way up.

A pleasant surprise for a us hardened vets.
