I haven't listened to that album in a while and can't remember much of it. I think I preferred "Significant Other" but thats not to say it wasn't a good album.

It's on the list of "1001 albums to hear before you die".

But then so is Dizzee Rascal's "Boy in da Corner" and The Streets' "A Grand Don't Come For Free".
dude. don't even START ragging on "A Grand Don't Come For Free." You may not like the feel or style of the vocals, but the simple beauty of how true to life and honest and heartfelt that songwriting is can't be denied. That album fuckin moved me the first time i listened to it.

sorry. i got fired up.

oh. and i've heard very good thing's about Dizzee Rascal from some real serious hip-hop guys - people's who's taste i trust to be discriminating enough not to listen to any garbage.

as for BLB. I LOVE that album (and the cover art w/ the hands over the face), but it's really not the same as Limp Bizkit's vibe at all. I don't just mean lyrically. So I wouldn't argue that either is better than the other. I will say i find the instrumentation to be a lot more interesting and dimensional in Limp Bizkit's work. But Cruel Melody is just solid songwriting with a shitload of catchiness and good vibe to spare.

AND I like a lot of Fred Durst's lyrics - truthfully i like all of em and i think he had a great voice. But i definitely understand what people hate about a lot of it. Personally i relate to the more angsty shit he wrote (Boiler, The One, It'll Be Ok) and i just really enjoy the other shit for it's fun value.
"You don't wanna fuck with me today
Cuz a little something something didn't go your way
So try not be like that today
Cuz i'm a real mother fucker from round the way"

laugh at it or dig it, either way, i love it.

"I have a koala bear infestation in my apartment. It's the cutest infestation ever. Way better than cockroaches..."

+1

I think that we're forgetting just how good Terry Date is as a producer. When I re-listen to some of the albums he produced/engineered it just totally floors me (Especially Deftones Self-Titled).

And I also think Borland is a under-rated guitarist... Not in the sense of pure technicality but more in the sense of creating a sound-scape and mood.
