Apparently I've topped myself
I debuted a new song at practice today that floored everyone. Our drummer said it's the best song I've written to date.

Indeed. What I'm happiest about is I've finally molded all of the elements of my playing together and finding a good blend of the strummy chordy stuff that I love, the chug that is automatically generated whenever I touch a guitar (), and the more difficult bits (that I generally use sparsely).

congrats! my "band" is gonna jam w/ a possible 2nd guitarist, im excited. according to the drummer and bassist, his style is similar to mine lol (i cant really play metal, i just make attemps and sometimes they're good).

this gives me a chance to try doing some good singing so that we can get shows and still hunt for a great singer lol

It's been a bit of an evolution, trying all kinds of things and trying to broaden the tools at hand. Trying to play technical stuff and not digging it, etc.

Sure you can play metal, you don't have to play tech. death stuff to write a metal song. For me, metal styles just come out in my playing, but many of my influences are certainly not metal...

yeah it sucks being in a slump hey, i got a few ideas, some cool riffs in the works, but can never build on em or bridge em well myself, thats where our lead guitarist comes in

hehe, when i went in to play the dual rec today, i was playing an MIA fat strat and my playing was terrible. switched to a PRS singlecut SE.. a bit more like normal lol.

will you be recording your new opus?

when i overthink things, i always end up writing a mediocre song. ALWAYS. when i play what i'm feeling at the time, i write much better, more interesting songs.

I might record it, I still haven't solidified the whole thing. It's not a technical masterpiece though I don't do that.

I'm also not the best at recording myself, the the mics go on (or the toneport goes on ) I totally forget how to play for some reason
