the idea is to jump into the studio later next year after the europe tour. ideas are already flowing, and if it all comes out the way it sounds in our heads (isn't that always the case with everyone), this thing could be a beast to deal with

So will the next Korn album feature any crazy shredding solos?

damn this dudes in KoRn!?!?!
Right on man, given your position, if you could find out something I've been wondering since I watched the DVD for "Untitled", what does munky tune his 8 string to???

I used to HATE korn about 5 or 6 years ago. and then something happened and they just grew on me and I started collecting all their albums, I really dig the last two releases, it shows that theyve grown as musicians and people.

In my honest opinion, I feel Head (or as I call him Brian gives Head Welch) is a egocentric asshole. He quit the damn band IN A PHUCKING EMAIL!!!! In all seriousness, for Head these were his band mates, his friends, and he didnt have the balls to even phone one of them, instead he sends an email that says "I found jesus, i quit, please dont contact me". It just seems to me that that was a really messed up way to leave a band, and a real messed up thing to do to someones friends. Korns song "Ever Be" is right on track with what kind of asshole that guy is.

However, I feel he is a talented guitarist/musician when hes playing the Korn stuff. The stuff I heard from him now is boring, his "Letter to Dimebag" or whatever it was that he played in his church sounded like a bunch of steretypical guitar licks that I teach my beginner students. And the only song I've heard from him was Kry, and that song made me laugh, primarily because I heard him say in an interview "I can sing now, I never sang in Korn" (yet he did back up vocals live ) "Kry" just sounds like some garbage he through together in some program like Garage Band, its annoying as hell.

yes, and you guys don't know the half of head's insanity. the stories that lead up to him leaving are even better. he's just been tweaked out for so many years, then he simply lost it.

he was, no matter what other's think, a talented guitarist. it's a shame he fell off the sanity wagon, and feels he has to be "holier than thou" to maintain his celebrity status, but to each his own i guess.

People, don't get into Meth!

I'm obviously not partial to all the details, and I might not wholeheartedly agree with ever position Head may take, but I never strongly got that impression from him.

To me, it seems like, if his life was spiraling that badly out of control, and he was that dependent on drugs, then if faith in God is helping him to be a better person, well, I wish him the best.

I've never read or heard anything where he was overtly bashing Korn. More, he was saying how bad the lifestyle associated with being a superstar in Korn was really was, and how it was destroying him personally.

Holy shit, we have a Korn thread with the new guitarist from Korn posting, once again this is the most awesome forum ever, hook me up to life support now please.

As a result of this thread I have been listening to a lot of Korn to try and understand what happened, that is, why I don't listen to them as much now. These are my thoughts on Korn and myself.

I was young when I first got into Korn and I thought they were awesome. I was a hoon, my girlfriend was in high-school and most of my friends were younger than me, I had an awesome sound system in my car and the bass in Korn ruled. But most of all Korn was fun, even songs like Daddy. The music was new and ruled, the aggression was fun and the lyrics were appealing and fun to sing along to.

After listening to Korn now, I realise that Korn have improved and grown as a band, musically they are better now but they don't capture me like they used to and I know my old friends have also moved on. I think the reason for this is we have got older and yet when I have played Korn to younger people their response has been "WTF, have you got any good music". The things I find fun have changed and sometimes with Korn there is a sense of I have heard it all before and I am looking for something new.

I just read that and realised how it reads like a bad break up, it's not you it's me

I think the thing is Korn have proven they have a great sense in music and we both have grown up now, Korn could now go two ways, 1. They could try to be popular, that is, they could try to write songs that are fun for a target demographic, the music they write would have to be fun for the age group they are trying to reach, young people are easy, rebellion, sex, anger, issues while either following the trends or creating new ones, older people are harder, we have become bitter and don't have fun anymore. 2. They could write music that they (the band) enjoy and appeals to them, music that when they write it they think, fuck that was cool, music they have fun playing and sharing with others.

I hope they go with the last one, like I said Korn have proven that they have a great sense of music, I think if they record something that excites themselves it will also excite me. I look forward to hearing what they can come up with and having you here Shane and enjoying this community is promising, it gives me confidence that at least a part of Korn still enjoys the same shit that I enjoy.
