Just a thought (about DT)

Just been watching some various Dream Theater vids on youtube and i've come to the conclusion that James LaBrie really is a shitty singer live. In the studio he can pull off a lot of shit i fuckin love but live he really kills the show for me. *sigh*

So my hypothesis is that if Freddie Mercury could be brought back from the dead and front this band and they could work with a producer like Rick Rubin to keep them from turning every good 6 minute song into a 6 minute song with an 8 minute wankfest they could quite possibly be the best band ever.

*shrug* I'm just venting my frustration because i feel they have so much POTENTIAL that they kinda waste on a lot of nonsense.

I hate James Labrie. I listen to some Dream Theater, but I personally hate his voice - both live and on the albums. Dream Theater's music is so amazing and then they just have this guy for a singer.

I know the zillion Dream Theater fanboys will disagree with me since it is, after all, an opinionated thing, but I just really hate the guys voice. Usually when I'm listening to DT, it's like: music comes in:

Oh yeah, good stuff. Then Labrie comes in:

Why? I happen to agree with them and think it'd be awesome if Freddie Mercury was in Dream Theater. That's, of course, impossible - considering that he isn't with us anymore, but I think it'd be absolutely amazing.

I hate Labrie's vocals, but Freddie Mercury just had some of the coolest vocals in rock history.

1. youtube isn't the best means to judge anyones singing, or guitar playing, etc.

2. Yeah, he isn't for everyone. Which brings us to......

3. He's Canadian. Therefore automatically better than you

Naren if you like the instrumental side of DT, you should try out Liquid Tension Experiment 1 & 2. I happen to love DT, but I like LTE even more.

You do not have to agree with me, but both Freddie and James are two of my fav rock singers. Of course, there can only one Freddie.

Back to my original post, I simply thought it is stupid to cast a judgement on someone's performances after watching some crappy bootlegs on YouTube... I mean, YouTube! Are you kidding me? I doubt that guy has even attended a DT show!
