Video interview with Dallas and Karl from Nile
MetalKult » NILE: The MetalKult Interview
Cool interview, with a few licks and a KXK plug, swoit Actually, the whole Metalkult blog aint half bad, although it makes me wonder, if the Guitar World kids know so much about current metal why are they beating off Avenged Sevenfold in every issue? Apparently there's a "Betcha Can't Play This" from the Nile lads in an upcoming issue too, so I'll have to keep an eye out for that... |

God Nile kicks so much ass it's criminal. Those chords are killer.

![]() Well 48 = 64 tension wise, you should be fine. PS: Their tone was weird because they were using backstage amps wherever the interview was setup. People usually don't use their real rigs in interviews like that. Their tube amps are too loud to crank up in an interview like that. |

Not to mention the mic job was weird. You could hear it get louder and softer and shit.
BTW, I use an .011 for my B.

that was an awesome video. The 11 string fretless sounded frigging evil. tempted to get a cheap 7 string and take it's frets out

Sorta, but not in a stupid way. Well... maybe a bit, like Slingblade or Forrest Gump, but he sounds real smart and articulate, too. Talking all that music theory and Egyptology.I dunno. It's cool.

I don't know if it's just me but the 11 string's tone was way more brutal sounding compared to the 6.
Also I don't think I've ever heard a Marshall DSL sound that fuckin heavy either. |

Karl Sanders is definitely not slow. Brilliant man, extremely intelligent.
DSL100 sounds great with the right tubes/speakers/pickups and a nice boost. That clip doesnt do it justice, low quality. |

I think he just talks slow, it didn't sound like a drawl to me like he's some kind of slack-jawed-half-wit-mouth-breather, just like he was stoned or something, taking it easy
Awesome interview. Almost makes me want to fuck around with drop tunings so I can use those weird chords

That was awesome... I love hearing those guys talk. TRUE death metal guys, knowledgeable, creative, understated, and all-in-all making brutal music!

I think we put far too much emphasis on how well people communicate and too little on the value of their ideas.BTW, what are the intervals between the two notes in each course on his glissandar neck? I'm pretty sure they're not octaves/doubles.

They are. He said it a few times when going over his string gauges.

What struck me about Karl is that every time he so much as looked as his guitar he went "WHOOOOAH YEAAAAH URGGGGGH METALLLL" and to be onest it kinda annoyed me, not nearly as much as that dodgy sound editing though.
Also, I found a little clip of his "Betcha Can't Play This" and... well... it fucking blew. It honestly seemed like one of those fake youtube dubs, I was waiting for him to hit the Herman Ri talent enhancement pedal at any moment... |
