Saw shane gibson w/ jonathan davis tonight

i only went b/c i was able to get in for free and b/c i wanted to see shane play. it turned out to be better than i'd expected...i'm not particularly familiar with most of the songs they did, but there were some cool arrangements....some pretty eerie-sounding stuff.

it's not technically "acoustic" in the traditional sense. they had shane playing hollowbody electrics through a Fuchs combo amp, a synth player, a violinist/backup singer with a double-neck electric violin, and an upright bass/synth bass player. it also helped that my friend who was doing lights made it look fucking awesome.

anyway, it's a pretty interesting show, i think the music might actually be more interesting than the regular korn material.

oh, and if anyone was curious, shane is generally fairly low in the mix, but they did give him a brief solo bit between songs at one point, where he did some clean sweeping type stuff. i got to talk to him for a little bit after the show as well, pretty cool.

Godhead's acoustic stuff isn't too bad either, although not the first thing i'd go check out normally. there was another opener as well, but i didn't watch them and have no idea who they were.

yeah....2 acoustic guitars, electric bass, and an acoustic drum set. pretty interesting, actually. i've heard their "2000 years..." cd before, so i know generally what they sound like. kinda weird and different to see them doing this shit.

I like how you had to put a disclaimer in here.

Me, I'd be proud and happy to go to that show. I like Jon tremendously, and I really dig Shane's work.

+1, I'd go to see them without having to preface anything. It would be good to see Shane play live regardless of the setting.

tickets would have cost $32 and i don't like korn or jonathan davis enough to have paid that much to see him. i honestly wouldn't have even considered going for that much. definitely was more interesting than i would have expected, though....but i still don't know if i'd feel good about paying that much personally.

Sounds like a pretty cool show. That was in Boston? Nice review, Ari.
