A door closes, but i think i see another opening...

so, yeah... i got *that* call yesterday from one of my bandmates, after what is now my last gig with Venyx friday night. i got 86'd.

and, i don't feel all that bad. i mean, it sucks that i won't be able to play music with my friends anymore. apparently they need a guitar player who can play a lead the same way every night every time. and, who can play them well

. i don't think i suck or anything, but i don't think they ever saw the same things that i saw when i was playing.

and, they wanted to get better and "go" places, and wanted a guitar player who could do it all. despite the lead guitar parts that i sucked at only accounted for maybe 5% of the night, they're going to start over with someone new.

now, i do want them to suceed, but i'd like for them to go through a few guitar players first

so, that's kinda sucking my will to enjoy this beautiful fall day today. though, my new girlfriend sorta picked-me-up this morning :p

so anyways... tonight i'm jamming with a couple guys from Bowling Green (just south of here), who are into the same type of music as i am... Devin Townsend, Dream Theater, and one of them is really into Porcupine Tree.

ultimately, i'll probably have more fun and more "holy shit, that song felt GREAT" moments. wish me luck about 9pm tonight

That sucks man, but life moves on... at least you have other things going on.

I can't even think about starting a band, because there's no drummers in this shitty place. I would have to play with 14 yo kids that I help getting started in the wonderful world of music(I run a voluntary music workshop here).

I hope you find new things

Oh, that sucks man, but don't let it stop you from moving on, use the time spent in that bad as experience for the next band, and surely, somewhere down do the road, youll find a band where you fit right in.

Basically they're a cover band, correct? With some exceptions, cover bands never really go anywhere. It's the nature of being a cover band. Wanting carbon copy solos every night is an indication that they're turning into a really bad kind of cover band, which leads to stagnation and a complete lack of creativity.

Go find some good people to play with and let your creativity flow. You're a good guitarist, go make some good music
