Immolation
Immolation is a band that i bought a few CD's from a few years ago, and listened to them a few times and couldnt immediately get into.
Then around last year i broke out Close to A World Below again. I clearly was an idiot and promptly decided that this was one of the most kickass death metal albums ever. Close To A World Below has all the qualifiers of a great DM album. First, the album cover (See avatar). The riffs are brutal. I Can't honestly think of a band that sounds like Immolation. They're so unique. Thats what made it hard for me to get into them at first, but after you get some serious listening in, you can't stop. And the lyrics. Also, they are awesome. (see sig). Thusly, I now have Close to A World Below, Unholy Cult and Harnessing Ruin. Anyone know how their new disc is? Almighty asmodeus, existant of chaos Ominous be thy name Thy kingdom come on earth Lead me into all temptation of my flesh So I may trespass greatly into Thy ways by my desires ~Fornicatus Benefictus http://www.myspace.com/impurity Brutal Skullfucking Death Metal |

Their new album shares some similarities with Harnessing Ruin but on the whole I'd say it's a much better album. Harnessing Ruin is definitely their weakest album but by general death metal standards it's still pretty good. You can't really go wrong with any of their stuff, so you might as well get their debut Dawn Of Possession next and move on from there.

Dawn Of Possesion is what got me into Immolation back in 1992. Since then, i've always liked them. Badass band. I haven't got their newest one yet but I will soon.

i had harnessing ruin but I didn't like it all. I deleted it from my PC. But maybe you're right, it might take a few listens to get into them.
